Fischerstube Zürihorn
Zurich
At a glance
Fischerstube Zürihorn is a lakeside restaurant at Zürihorn in Zurich, combining fish-focused cooking with Swiss specialities and seasonal dishes. The menu also includes vegan and vegetarian choices, making the venue suitable for mixed dining groups rather than only seafood enthusiasts.
The restaurant’s main room is a tall, vaulted space inspired by the character and architecture of the original Fischerstube. Long windows open the room towards the lake, creating a close visual connection with the water. The atmosphere is polished but connected to the venue’s fishing-hut theme, with the setting doing as much of the work as the food.
Several areas give the venue different moods. The restaurant offers a more formal setting for lunch or dinner, while the separate lounge is designed for aperitifs, drinks and snacks, with the full lunch and à la carte selection also available there. Outdoors, the waterside terrace provides room for seated dining beside views of the lake, Zurich’s skyline and the mountains. The setting is particularly suited to a long meal or an early evening drink when the light changes across the water.
The Fischergarten takes a more informal approach. It is a large self-service garden beneath plane trees, with fish, meat, vegetarian and seasonal options, as well as gelato and house-made desserts. The fish fritters with chips are a central choice in the garden offering, while the restaurant menu focuses more broadly on daily fish catches, regional dishes and seasonal cooking. A waterside takeaway counter adds sandwiches, soups, pastries, desserts, snacks, cocktails, beer and local wines when the weather and seasonal service allow.
Fischerstube Zürihorn works for relaxed daytime dining, a lakeside dinner, an aperitif or a casual stop in the garden. A small private landing stage also allows boats to make a brief stop for takeaway food or drinks. For private occasions, the separately rentable Fischerhütte has its own small terrace over the water. The range of spaces makes the venue adaptable for couples, groups and informal gatherings, while the combination of restaurant, lounge and garden gives visitors a choice between table service and a more casual format.
