Description

Begin with a relaxing bus trip from Zurich to Lake Lucerne, the fourth-largest lake in Switzerland, located on the border of four cantons. Arriving at the resort town of Weggis on the lake’s eastern shore, you will start your ascent on a cable-car up Mount Rigi, known as the Queen of the Mountains, reaching the spa baths located on its slopes.

From the summit, you can see 13 surrounding lakes and the central Swiss mountain scenery. Capture photographs as you explore. During summer, discover hiking trails on Rigi; in winter, explore by sleigh.

Experience a ride on the world’s oldest funicular railway, dating from 1871, descending to Vitznau. Continue your journey with a scenic boat cruise across Lake Lucerne back to the city. Before returning to Zurich by coach, enjoy views of Mount Rigi from Lucerne’s old town.

• From 9 March to 2 April 2026, 16 to 27 November 2026, and 8 to 31 March 2027, the ascent and descent will be by cogwheel train due to cable car maintenance.
