Die Waid
Zurich
At a glance
Die Waid is a restaurant on Waidbadstrasse with a broad panorama across Zurich. Its setting combines a dining room and terrace with views over the city, creating a backdrop that changes from daytime brightness to evening lights. The atmosphere is centred on relaxed meals and time spent at the table rather than on a quick stop.
The kitchen follows two related concepts. The Jahreszeiten restaurant focuses on contemporary interpretations of traditional, seasonal cooking. Alongside it, the WOK concept brings wok cooking together with references to Swiss cuisine. This gives the venue a choice between a more classic seasonal restaurant style and a casual, distinctive wok-led approach.
Service covers several parts of the day. Lunch is followed by an afternoon period for a Swiss-style Zvieri, coffee, ice cream and other lighter treats. In the evening, the restaurant and terrace are arranged for dinner, when the illuminated city provides a changing visual setting. The menu structure also includes options for children, groups and larger dinner occasions.
Die Waid suits diners looking for a meal with a view, seasonal food or a different take on wok cooking. It also works for an afternoon pause, provided the visit fits the venue’s separate afternoon service. The terrace adds an outdoor option during suitable weather, while the indoor restaurant provides a more formal setting for lunch, dinner and group occasions.
The venue describes itself as a Genusszone, with the focus placed on food, conversation and the panorama. Laptop work is not part of the intended experience, so Die Waid is better suited to social meals, family visits, relaxed coffee breaks and celebrations than to working from a restaurant table. Reservations are available for individual visits and organised group occasions.
