Hotel Helmhaus
Zurich
At a glance
Hotel Helmhaus is a boutique hotel in Zurich’s historic centre, positioned near the river and lake and within easy reach of cultural landmarks, independent cafés and local shops. The setting combines an urban base for exploring with a quieter place to rest between outings.
The hotel’s character is shaped by clean, understated design, personal service and attention to practical details. Rooms use warm, simple furnishings rather than an ornate style, with facilities expected of a four-star hotel. Artwork by Swiss artist Gisèle Mengis adds a local cultural element to the interiors, while the hotel’s approach also places emphasis on local produce, regional partners and more sustainable business practices.
Room categories cover several types of stay. The Boutique Queen is designed for solo travellers and includes a generous queen-size bed. The Boutique Double Mini makes efficient use of a compact 16-square-metre layout, while the standard Boutique Double offers either a double or two single beds. Boutique Relax rooms provide more space, along with bathrobes and pillows filled with Swiss-alpine sheep’s wool and pine flakes. The Boutique Triple adds a bed for a third guest and includes the same relaxation-focused touches.
Families have a dedicated arrangement consisting of two connected rooms with an entrance area and a front door. This option accommodates two adults and up to three children. Families with one or two children up to 12 years old can also consider the Boutique Triple, which includes a sofa bed. The range therefore suits solo travellers, couples, small groups and families who value a central base with a calm, residential feel.
Hotel Helmhaus also has a long civic and cultural association with the Old Town. Its history includes a role in protecting cultural heritage during the Reformation and supporting poor relief. That background continues through its connection with art and its focus on responsible, locally minded hospitality. The hotel is a practical choice for guests who want walking access to central sights while keeping the accommodation experience restrained and personal.
