Description
Start your tour by meeting your guide at Zurich Main Railway Station at 8:30 under the main hall clock, or at your hotel reception if staying downtown. You will board the train to Walenstadt, historically known as Switzerland’s old garrison town.
If you choose, begin an 11 km (7 miles) hike directly from Walenstadt, or take a bus to Walenstadtberg to start a shorter 7 km (4.5 miles) hike. The trail offers continuous views of Lake Walen’s fiord-like deep blue waters.
Along the route, observe the rugged silhouettes of the Churfirsten rock formations and the unspoiled nature of the southern valley side. After approximately 2.5 hours, arrive at Quinten, a car-free village with a distinct Mediterranean climate that supports palm trees, kiwi fruits, and grapevines.
Take a lunch break in Quinten before boarding a boat for a scenic cruise across the lake to Murg. From there, return by train to Zurich.
