Description
Day 1:
Begin with a scenic drive through the countryside and along Lake Lucerne to Weggis. Take the aerial cable car to Rigi Kaltbad, then ride Europe’s first mountain railway to Rigi-Kulm (1,800 m / 6,000 ft). Enjoy panoramic views over the Swiss Midlands, the Alps, and surrounding lakes. Explore well-marked hiking trails in the area.
In the afternoon, check in at Rigi Kaltbad and relax in the newly designed mineral baths and spa by architect Mario Botta. The spa features indoor and outdoor pools heated to 35°C, a whirlpool, herbal sauna, steam bath, and an adults-only crystal spa bath. In the evening, dine on a 4-course meal at the SunSet restaurant.
Day 2:
The mineral baths open exclusively for hotel guests at 9:00 AM. Around midday, descend by cogwheel train to Vitznau, then take a one-hour boat cruise on Lake Lucerne to the city of Lucerne. Explore the old town, including Chapel Bridge, Jesuit Church, town hall, and Culture and Convention Center.
A professional multilingual guide accompanies the group from Zurich to Weggis and from Lucerne back to Zurich. The Mt. Rigi ascent, descent, overnight stay, and boat cruise are unguided but include detailed written instructions.
