Begin your day with a convenient pickup from your hotel or any address in Zurich. After a scenic drive of about one hour, arrive in Lucerne, a fairytale city on the lake, framed by snow-capped mountains. Walk across the famous Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe, and explore the car-free Old Town with its painted facades, cobblestone squares, and festive lights reflected in the Reuss River. Enjoy Rudolfs Weihnacht on the Inseli park, a cozy Christmas village right on the shore of Lake Lucerne, with wooden chalets, glowing trees, mulled wine, and warm Swiss treats. In December, visit the traditional Lucerne Christmas market on Franziskanerplatz, famous for its giant Advent wreath and around 70 stalls with handmade gifts, candles, and local specialties. You will have free time for lunch, shopping, and photos. In the afternoon, continue to Basel, the city on the Rhine, whose Christmas market was voted Best Christmas Market in Europe. As darkness falls, the old town lights up and the true mystery of a Swiss Christmas unfolds. Stroll through the market on Barfüsserplatz, meeting point around the tall Christmas pyramid, then walk up to Münsterplatz, where decorated stalls stand beneath glowing snowball trees in front of the majestic Basel Minster. From the terrace behind the cathedral, enjoy the view over the Rhine at night. Taste a cup of mulled wine, Swiss raclette, grilled sausages, and the famous Basler Läckerli gingerbread, and take home unique Christmas decorations.
