  • 3D printers and student innovation projects

Description

Welcome to ETH Zurich's Student Project House (SPH) – a place where curiosity becomes the driving force behind innovation and ideas are given the space to become reality. As soon as you enter, you can feel the special atmosphere of a building that belongs entirely to the students: a creative space without the pressure of grades, without assessment, but with all the more opportunities to boldly experiment and create something new.

At the start of the tour, we delve into our mission: Building on students' curiosity, we inspire and empower them to develop a maker-innovator mindset. As we guide you through the various areas of the SPH, you will experience how this mission is put into practice on a daily basis. You will discover our open makerspace environment, hear the hum of the machines, see prototypes take shape and meet students working on projects – from sustainable solutions to technical innovations and artistic experiments. They are supported in this by a coaching team, workshops and a committed community that fosters exchange and collaboration.

Core mindsets

Before we dive deeper, let's take a moment to reflect on our six core mindsets – they shape the culture of the SPH and accompany students on their journey:

  • YOU CAN DO IT – Have the courage and self-confidence to start a project that matters to you.
  • FAIL FORWARD – Mistakes are part of the process and are an opportunity to learn from them
  • SEEK DIVERSE VIEWS – Be curious about people, projects and ideas that broaden your perspective.
  • BETTER TOGETHER – Get involved in the community, support others, and value feedback.
  • ENJOY CREATING – Discover new tools, prototype early, and enjoy experimenting.
  • TEST AND ADAPT – Regularly question your assumptions and adapt your approach.

During the tour, you will experience the SPH as a melting pot of ideas, passion and creativity – driven by the shared desire to make the world a little bit better. The principle here is: Students shape a better future by creating and innovating in a sustainable way.
