Description

Combine the castles of Bellinzona with the stone village of Foroglio on a private day trip from Zurich. This is a suggested itinerary with two fixed stops and a set amount of time at each. Your driver picks you up at your hotel or any address in Zurich in a premium Mercedes vehicle. The drive through the Gotthard tunnel to Bellinzona, the capital of Ticino, takes about 2 hours 15 minutes. Bellinzona (1 hour 30 minutes): take the free lift up to Castelgrande, one of the town's three UNESCO-listed castles, and walk along its walls and courtyard. Then stroll through the old town around Piazza Collegiata and stop for lunch. Foroglio (1 hour 15 minutes, 1 hour 15 minutes' drive): continue past Locarno into the Maggia Valley and on to the Bavona Valley. Walk through the village of granite stone houses to the foot of the Foroglio waterfall, which drops about 110 metres from the cliffs. The drive back to Zurich takes about 3 hours 15 minutes and ends at your hotel or address. The whole trip lasts about 9 hours 30 minutes. Both stops are free to visit. Food and drinks are not included. Road and weather conditions in the Bavona Valley can change the timing. On request, your driver can change the order of the stops.
