Casco Viejo
Zurich
At a glance
Casco Viejo is a Spanish-style tapas bar on Rosengasse in central Zurich, created around the relaxed social tradition of sharing small dishes over drinks. Its atmosphere, food and beverage selection are designed to bring a sense of Spain to the city, with a setting that suits an informal meal, an aperitif or a longer evening with friends.
The kitchen prepares tapas by hand each day, keeping the focus on freshly made small plates and familiar Spanish flavours. The menu follows the tradition of tapas served alongside drinks, while pinchos offer a more substantial, carefully assembled alternative. This format allows guests to order a selection for the table, build a meal gradually or combine a few bites with a drink.
Drinks are centred on Spain, with a focused selection of Spanish beer and wine chosen to accompany the food. International spirits, liqueurs and soft drinks add further options for guests who prefer something beyond beer or wine. The overall character remains that of a casual tapas bar rather than a formal restaurant, with the shared-food format encouraging conversation and an unhurried evening.
Casco Viejo works for several occasions, including a casual date, drinks after work, a small gathering with friends or a family meal based around shared plates. The venue also handles group and private occasions, with arrangements available through direct contact. Its location makes it suitable for a meal or drink while exploring the central city area.
Reservations are available by phone or through the venue’s reservation service. From Thursday to Saturday, evening bookings are organised in two sittings, with an earlier period from 18:00 to 20:00 and a later period from 20:00 to 23:00. The bar opens in the afternoon on most days and from midday on Saturdays, making it suitable for a late lunch-style stop, an afternoon drink or an evening meal. Casco Viejo is closed on 1 January.
