Urbansurf

Urbansurf brings surf culture into Zurich’s Gerold quarter, close to Bahnhof Hardbrücke. Its central feature is a Citywave® standing wave, allowing surfers to practise on a stationary flow of water rather than travelling to the coast. The setup welcomes experienced surfers as well as newcomers taking their first steps on a board.

The venue combines surfing with an afterwork bar, a restaurant and a surf shop. Bar and restaurant guests can watch the action on the wave while enjoying drinks and food from the surf kitchen. The menu focuses on fresh, regional ingredients, with bowls and burgers among the formats associated with the venue. The food and drink offer suits a casual stop after work, a relaxed meal or an outing centred on watching the sessions.

Urbansurf has an outdoor-lifestyle character, with the surf area forming the visual focus of the setting. The atmosphere connects an active daytime activity with a social evening space, making the venue suitable for people who want to surf, meet friends, attend an event or simply spend time around the wave. Its event programme includes surf-related activities, music and social gatherings, while the bar and restaurant provide a place for spectators who are not taking part in a session.

Surf sessions are booked separately through the venue, so the restaurant and bar can also be enjoyed without taking to the wave. The surf shop adds a retail element, including a venue collection and equipment-related activity. Special events can bring together food, drinks, entertainment and surfing, giving the space a flexible role within the Gerold area.

Urbansurf works particularly well for mixed groups, since participants can combine a booked session with food, drinks or time spent watching other surfers.
